Major Areas of Investigation

Cardiology: Long QT syndrome, Williams syndrome, supravalvular aortic stenosis, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome; sibship linkage study of nonmodulation and hypertension; effect of beta-blockers on left ventricular function; effects of pentoxifylline in chronic severe heart failure.

Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes: Genetic studies of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus; hereditary and environmental factors in benign prostatic hyperplasia; transdermal delivery of testosterone in the treatment of androgen deficiency in hypogonadal men.

Hematology and Oncology: Clonal studies of breast cancer; prostate, lung, colorectal, and ovarian cancer screening; analysis of proliferative breast disease; colonic polyps inheritance factors; adenomatous polyp dietary intervention; cytogenetic and molecular approaches to prostate cancer; porphyria cutanea tarda; hereditary hemochromatosis; toxicity studies of continuous infusion N-acetyl cysteine in combination with interleukin-2 for treatment of malignant melanoma or renal cell carcinoma.

Neurology: Molecular genetics of degenerative neurological diseases; assessment of patients receiving ventroposterolateral pallidotomy for Parkinson's disease.

Obstetrics and Gynecology: Genetics of severe preeclampsia and related adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Pediatrics: Limb malformations linkage analysis; neurological disorders linkage and analysis; determination of antibody response from human allografts used in pediatric congenital heart disease surgery; role of neutrophils and inflammatory cytokines; regulation of granulocytopoiesis in neonates.

Psychiatry: Molecular genetics of schizophrenia, manic depression, and autism.
