Funding support for the CTSAs is provided by the NIH Common Fund The annual cost of a CTSA ranges between $4 million to $23 million, depending on each site's previous funding for NIH clinical research resources. Consequently, the number of CTSAs funded within each annual budget depends not only on the results of the formal peer review process and the total annual budget, including reprogrammed funds, but also the size of the awards. The funding totals include recommended future year total cost support and are subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory progress.
